So, with that said, I'm going to highlight things that have reminded me that I have so much to be grateful for or made me stop and think about the need to be humble as I encounter nearly everything.
#188: A close friend of mine from high school called last week to tell me that he and his wife are expecting twins. Priceless.
#189: I'm consistently humbled by and grateful for the class I have been participating in at the church I now attend. The warmth of the people and the depth of insight in the discussions is impressive.
#190: Mr. Wonderful and I survived an intense home renovation project that lasted almost 48 hours last weekend. We ended up with some minor emotional bumps and bruises, but considering how much work it was and how much stress it involved, I'm proud of what we accomplished -- both literal and figurative.
#191: This Thanksgiving my entire family and I will be able to be together; usually some of us aren't able to attend, but this year we'll all be spending it together on a mini-vacation.
#192: I heard "Sweet Southern Comfort" by Buddy Jewel today and thought of this. That song conjures up such strong memories of family that, as soon as I hear it, I almost feel like it is next week already.
#193: Sadly, this will be the first Thanksgiving that Mr. Wonderful doesn't have a "home" to go home to. With no living parents at age 31 (and, for his sister, at age 28), he will be spending the holiday with extended family, including his grandparents (ages 93 and 92); aunt, uncle and cousins; my family; and friends. This is the saddest thing I've encountered in some time, and I can't even begin to fathom how sad it is for him.
#194: Interesting and heart-warming events over the next week, followed by a holiday.
#195: I have an opportunity to sit down with someone next week to figure out how I can marry my graduate degree and desire to change the world via writing.
#196: So grateful for the fact that I'm nearly 5 months and this many reasons into this project. I'm so humbled by the continuity of it.
And by your support.
Thanks,
Me
